HOW THE HALL CAME TO BE
Job Charley Mabey, who donated the land for the hall. At the time the area was a productive rural district, and the rural families wanted a place they could gather.
Richard Bartosh called an informal meeting on June 7, 1922. By the time an interim committee met two days later, some £500 had been pledged by local families. Read more here

Margaret McMurray remembers going down to the hall as a three-year-old with her father Jim Hamilton, a hall committee member. "I went to dances there with my parents when I was 12 because they wouldn't leave at home alone."
At one of those dances she first met her husband-to-be Dave, was on the hall committee for more than five decades until his death.
